For those of you who want to follow the Independent Olympic Athletes…

Remember those athletes who danced/pantomimed their events during the march of athletes during the opening ceremony? Well, two of them are competing this week. BTW, all times are in London time.

  • Philipine van Aanholt,of Curaçao (aka the former Netherlands Antilles), will compete in the Laser Radial sailing event starting tomorrow the 30th. It will be 10 races spanning five days, two of which will be at 12:05 pm and 1:20 pm. The Laser Radial continues on the 31st at 12 noon, Wednesday at noon, Friday at 1:35 pm, and Saturday at 12:05 pm.
  • Reginald de Windt, also from Curaçao, competes in the 81kg division for Judo, which is on the 31st. It is an all-day affair, so you may want to stay put. de Windt’s opening match is against Russia’s Ivan Nifontov and is at 10:47 am.
  • There is a third athlete from Curaçao, and that is Liemarvin Bonevacia. He competes in the Men’s 400m, and the 1st round begins on Saturday, August 4th at 10:35 am. Survive that, go to the Semis the following day at 8:40 pm.
  • Guor Marial, who wasn’t a part of the dance party but is a Sudanese refugee living in the US and represents the newly-created nation of South Sudan, will be in the marathon on August 12 at 11am.
